Student GPA and management system

Grade recording, GPA calculation and student administration for an education provider. In build now.

Status

In build. This page describes what is being built and the constraints it has to meet. It carries no results, because there are none to report yet — when there are, they will appear here with the method that produced them, the same as every other figure on this site.

Context

An education provider records grades, calculates GPA and manages student records across a set of tools that do not agree with each other. The calculation itself is not the hard part. The hard part is that a GPA is a number a student's future depends on, so every value behind it has to be traceable to who entered it, when, and against which grading scheme.

Constraint

Grading rules are not universal and they change. A GPA calculation hard-coded against one scheme becomes wrong the moment a regulation is updated or a second institution is onboarded, and every historical record recalculated under the new rule becomes quietly incorrect.

So the scheme has to be data, results have to be reproducible against the scheme that was in force when they were recorded, and a correction has to leave a trail rather than overwrite a number.

Approach

The same discipline that runs through Nexora AI applies here: the record of what happened is the source of truth, derived values are a cache of it, and anything a person can dispute has to be traceable to its input.

Grading schemes are versioned records rather than constants. A transcript states which version it was computed under. Corrections are entries, not edits.

What comes next

The build is underway. This page will carry the same evidence the Nexora AI page does: what it is, who it is for, and what it changes for them — with the method behind every figure.
